more ideas

Here are some ideas of ways to gather people around you to Love One!

Try one of these or let us know what ideas are taking shape for you! A bake sale? A lemonade stand? A babysitting night? Dog-walking?

Here are a few that our supporters have tried....

FirstGiving Online Fundraiser
This is a great way to run an easy, online fundraiser. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions at FirstGiving's website at www.firstgiving.org. Start by entering "From HIV to Home" in the "find a non-profit" box, and the website will guide you through setting up your personal fundraising page. Then simply email friends and family to let them know about your fundraiser! This is a great way to let people know about World AIDS Orphans Day while giving them an easy way to get involved in loving an orphan with HIV.

Ugandan Necklace Sale
Sign up to be a necklace sale volunteer! These beautiful necklaces are made by a women's co-op in Uganda, where many of the women themselves are HIV-affected. Through our partnership, these necklace sales are able to provide a living wage for these women artisans while also funding our Love One grants. When you sign up as a necklace volunteer, we send you a kit (at no cost to you) with 20 necklaces, gift bags, tax receipts, brochures - everything you need to sell your batch of necklaces - at the end of your sale, you simply return your leftover materials together with the funds raised! If you are interested, please contact Abbey at abbey@fromhivtohome.org

Blog Badge
Email us at info@fromhivtohome.org for a copy of our Love One blog badge to post on your own blog. Send people over to learn how they, too, can Love One!

Pancake Breakfast
One of our families recently hosted a Flapjack Fundraiser at their local Applebees restaurant! Here's what they had to say: "Applebees provided tickets which sold for $7.00 each. For each ticket sold, they kept a full $5.00 and paid Applebees the remaining $2.00. Breakfast included pancakes, sausages, fruit, and unlimited beverages. Tickets were sold in advance and additional donations were encouraged. On the morning of the event, Applebees provided cooks, one person to help us set up and guide our volunteer staff, and all of the food and drinks. We provided a volunteer crew to seat guests, serve food and drinks, and clear tables. It was a great time and we all enjoyed having a "private party" at Applebees!"

Each Applebees franchise group handles their fundraisers differently. Some only sponsor events for schools, athletic teams, and Scout troops; while others allow their fundraisers for non-profit organizations like From HIV to Home (we can provide the federal tax ID number you will need to verify non-profit status). If you are interested in hosting a Flapjack Fundraiser, contact your local Applebees to get started!
